The Dutch are perceived as liberal, but there are two areas of the world where the Dutch influence resulted in a local tradition that was/is anything but.
Think of South Africa, Afrikaaners and Boers, for instance Direct descendants of the Dutch, so their bloody minded attitude had to come from somebody… and Northern Ireland, where a Dutch king imported by the British brought the colour “orange” to denote another sort of bigoted racially superior mentality. It makes sense that a few bigots stayed at Home who didn’t bother getting on the boat for Sed Efrrrrikkka or “Orange Ulster”….
