Nancy debuted in the comic strip Fritzi Ritz by Ernie Bushmiller in 1933. Fritzi adopted her orphaned niece, who soon became the star. The strip's name changed to Nancy in 1938. We're ringing in the New Year with the history of Nancy! Nancy says, "I was lonely in Hollywood---I really missed my friends back home in the east" Aunt Fritzi says, "Nancy---have you been making a lot of long-distance calls?" Nancy says, "Oh-no---Only one a day---" Hollywood telephone company bill to: Fritzi Ritz sunset terr long-distance toll charge $127.70 Nancy says, "Okay, Janie---What's your next move?"
