Katy: Mom, can I have a whoa, what is that smell? Laura: Ha! I'm cooking brussels sprouts. Katy: It smells like dad's office on a bad day! Laura: Sorry. They can be kind of pungent. Katy: Well, I can feel the pungentness sticking to my hair and skin! I'm gonna have to shower twice tomorrow! If that smells stays on me for school, I"m gonna have to transfer! Laura: Adam, tell your daughter she's being melodramatic. Adam: Phwhoah! Smells like a skunk lost a fight with a port-o-potty!
I hate brussels sprouts with a passion. A lot of it is the smell, but also negative experiences with them in the distant past. But reading many of the comments here with all those simple yet appealing recipes, I think it’s time for me to give them a new chance. I love trying food that I have never tried before, and every now and then I revisit a food that I have always disliked. Occasionally I discover that it’s not nearly as bad as I recalled, and sometimes it’s actually very good. I consider those moments huge revelations, and I cherish them.
