In my school district, school started Thursday before Labor Day. In surrounding school districts, it started Tuesday after. At my university, it starts mid-August for semester students, and mid-September (in fact, the week around my birthday) for quarter students like me. The same quarter schedule applied at the cmmunity college I went to before university.
