Riley: You got in trouble today? Huey: Yeah. Granddad was mad I didn't take my textbooks to school. Riley: Hmmm. Huey: What? Riley: It's just interesting that nobody ever notices that I never have my textbooks. Huey: If only we were all as adept at lowering people's expectations.
My mom had different standards for me and my older brother. He’d bring home mostly C minuses and Ds, the occasional F and he would get “Just try better next time, OK?” I never got lower than a B minus on my report card. Not that I was a whiz kid, I just always gave as much effort as I could. But anything that wasn’t an A+ and I’d hear “IT’S YOU WASTING ALL YOUR TIME WITH THAT NINTENDO/TV/COMICS AND NOT STUDYING ENOUGH!”. That always frustrated the hell out of me.
