Strip #2: Bozo followers might remember that a few days ago I mentioned the two gangsters from the 1930s named "Mais and Legenza, the heads of the Tri-State Gang. Not mentioned is the fact that after Federal agents arrested the two, they were placed in the Richmond Virginia city jail and then tried and sentenced to die in the electric chair. Mais then had his girlfriend mail him, as he and Legenza remained in the Richmond jail, a canned Turkey that had two revolvers hidden therein. The two, using the guns, escaped the jail, killing a policeman in the act. A few months later, after committing more crimes, the two were apprehended again and again returned to Richmond for trial. They appeared before the same judge who had originally sentenced them to death. That judge told them as they stood before him that they would die in the electric chair in just ten days, leaving them little opportunity to escape again. That is apparently where Foxo Reardon got the idea for this strip, as I remember his mentioning Mais Legenza and their escape a number of times
