1998: year of self-righteous fat. I was hungry for a chocolate chip cookie. I ate a mini rice cake. The bag said "serving size: 5," so I ate four more rice cakes to complete my serving. Annoyed that the five tasteless mini cement slabs I'd just eaten hadn't made me forget the cookie I wanted. I vowed to eat as many rice cakes as it took to reach chocolate chip cookie indifference...which I triumphantly achieved on mini rice cake #96.
