Back when employees and companies knew they'd be together for a lifetime, people went on vacation and never called in once. Today, when companies are shaky and employees fear getting dumped, people go on vacation and call in five times a day. Cathy: Some call it a communication revolution. I call it dating. Phone:...Hello from Orlando. Everything ok? ...Hello from Yosemite. Miss me?? ...Hello. From Paris. Do you need me??
Panel 3 answers: Yup / maybe. No, not even a little. No. You were fired a week ago. Come home. (H U G E gasp from the Paris end). I can be sooo cruel even few know I have it in me.
KFG re: your question last night: I feel like that all the time, on duty or not. No, I don’t think that’s weird to think that way at all when hearing fire sirens or ambulances. I still wonder too. I’ve lost a very very small handful of patients over the years and I know I’ve helped about a gazillion. I trust your record isn’t that far off from mine. That you still wonder shows you have a heart for those in need. Good for you. :-)
As for me, at the end of summer I’m going back full time, as both firefighter and paramedic. I still got healing to do, but it’s forward progress because I want to keep my career. Friend Gabe (my paramedic shift partner) is going back in a couple weeks. He’s healed nicely. I’m still working on it. Cap’n says the decision to come back is mine, but the whole squad wants me back. Nice huh?
Doing okay?
1:45 a.m. TOTALLY WIRED from my pain killer. Sigh.
