The only case I saw was a black CNN reporter being shoved around. I’m against the “militarization” of police, having spent nearly a decade in EFFECTIVE law enforcement without need for the toys and “jock itch” armed ninja junk. That also included riot control, where the objective WAS to have the public see that the officers WERE just people, and not hiding behind masks.
Just as law enforcement has gone downhill with right wing “gestapo” tactics, and yes there ARE “bad cops” just as there’s a vast MAJORITY of GOOD COPS, the public is losing faith, largely because of a press that keeps hiring people as stupid as the ones they’re broadcasting too.
Ron Johnson of the Missouri State Police seems to be well trained, and a very effective officer, calling for peaceful protests is smart. Humanizing the police, the victim AND the ""demonstrators" IS the right thing, not DEhumanizing.
