Walt must be well over 120 by now. But then, Skeezix is 103. Walt, a bachelor, found baby Skeezix on his doorstep on February 14, 1921.
“Gasoline Alley” characters age in real time, but some of them have astonishing longevity. Also, they tend to adopt foundlings more often than they reproduce in the otherwise usual way.
Although Skeezix always calls him “Uncle Walt,” Walt Wallet is, in fact, Skeezix’s adoptive father.
Walt married a widow, Phyllis, in 1926. Phyllis died in 2004, aged about 105. Skeezix eventually married Nina Clock, but Nina hasn’t been seen lately. I don’t know if she’s still alive.
Wow, this is, uh, a choice for something to say to the person you pay to live with and care for your father full-time, who is the primary person we ever see talking and listening to him. “Oh, ha ha, I didn’t mean you, Gertie, obviously. Obviously! Say, why don’t you go cook something?”
