Man: And I'm happy to report to the faculty that your proposals having to do with salary increases, tenure, and promoting were given the most careful consideration by the trustees! The board also shared your concern about the devaluation of our grading system, stemming from student pressure on teachers not to give low marks which may adversely affect career prospects... However, your recommendation of a quota system for letter grades did not strike us as a terribly practical, not to say equitable, solution to the problem. Voice: How about our proposal to abolish "A's"? Man: It was felt that might be a bit demoralizing for the students.
