Mike: Sal, let's go talk this out first, okay? Sal: I'm telling you, man, the guy's a world-class flamer! I can't take one more day here! Mike: Sal, everybody has roommate problems. It's part of being in... Trip: Hi, ho! Company? Mike: Hi, I'm Sal's brother, Mike Doonesbury. Trip: Trip Tripler. Nice to meet you, Mr. Doonesbury. Mike: Mr. Doonesbury? Trip: Why, yes, sir. You're my elder, aren't you? Sal: See what I mean?
There’s nothing wrong with having good manners ! I brought my kids up to address people as Mr. and Mrs. So-and-So or if they were close family friend, Aunt ___ and Uncle ____. Please and thank you, and answering an adult with yes, sir or yes, ma’am were part of their basic vocabulary from the time they could talk. They still ( in their 40’s ) are extremely polite to everyone – as is my 20 year old grandson. My little Ecuadoran grandchildren are, like their parents, also extremely polite. And yes, I still open doors for ladies and hold their chair when they sit down and assist them when they put on their coat !That was how I was raised . In this age of rude selfishness, I thank my parents for teaching me how to be a gentleman.
