Pythagorean Theorem Named after the Greek mathematician Pythagoras, the theorem states that A2 + B2 = C2 in a right triangle where A and B are the lengths of the legs forming the right angle, and C is the length of the hypotenuse, the leg opposite the right angle. "You may be right, Pythagoras - but everyone will laugh if you call it a 'hypotenuse'!"
