Back when grandma was our age they had no TV remote to change the channel. Why do you think people had kids? Yeah, that was back in the days before everything was automated. Why do you think people had so many kids?
Well, I’m over 70 and we certainly had remote controls when I was a kid. The first ones were wired, but then came the ultra-sonic ones with a tuning fork inside.
But even before that my grandfather made his own remote volume control by tying a string around the volume knob on the TV so he could pull the string and turn the volume down during commercials.
