I remember several years ago (back when I actually owned and drove a car) my car was making a loud wail when I’d drive it, there was also a rattleing and shaking whenever I started or stopped the engine, but the sounds didn’t seem to be affecting how the car worked so I didn’t want to take it in to have it checked out. Then I blew a tire and had to take it in to get a new set. When the technician took my car into the garage to put on the tires he couldn’t help but notice all the noise it was making and asked me if I wanted him to have it checked and I told him I didn’t have the money and it didn’t seem to be affecting the car, but he offered to take a look and tell me what he found. When he finished the tires he backed it out of the garage and the noise was gone so I asked him what I owed him and he told me that when he put the car up to change the tires he noticed that the bolt on my radiator fan was loose and the fan blade was loose so he tightedned the nut by hand and then got a wrench to finish the job, and I didn’t owe him a thing for such a simple fix.
