Mom: "Dad's right. Do you basics at junior college" Dad: "It's not Julliard, but the local J.C. has a fine drama department" Luann: "It's just so... unglamorous" Mom: "Honey, glamour is a state of mind. You can be glamorous in an unglamorous situation" Dad: "Exactly! Look at us!" Mom: "I don't think we're the best example" Dad: "Speak for yourself" Luann: "This is so convincing"
“Many saw him as Hendrix’s natural successor, and Vaughn wanted to expand on his guitar work. But because he couldn’t read music, he was unable to benefit from any of the research that’d been written about Hendrix’s technique.”.Since it’s never too late to learn, I wonder why he didn’t. (I’m assuming he didn’t since I don’t keep up with most musical artists.).There was an interesting episode on Gunsmoke in which a farmer wanted his son to quit school and go back to helping on the farm. Doc saw his natural talent and wanted to foster it and even teach him medicine. Matt Dillon, usually the good guy, sided with the father since that was the law..The townspeople got into a heated discussion regarding the usefulness of a formal education. One decided to turn to Festus as the natural arbiter of such matters. “Festus, you can’t read or write, but you get along all right, don’t you?”.Festus (my hero) cogitated on the question for a moment and responded, “Yeah, but I think being able to read would have made a lot of thangs a whole lot more simpler.” .After getting over the shock of having Festus as an unlikely ally, Doc invited him to Del Monico’s — the ultimate reward. .(In other episodes Festus COULD read, so there was a lack of continuity, but for the purpose of the tale, it was well done.)
