Lucky Cow by Mark Pett for February 02, 2008
Transcript:
Gary: You want to close this Lucky Cow franchise?! Man: It's the only way we can limit the damage you caused. Gary: But there must be something we can do to save it! Man: Actually, another business has bought the premises. Gary: Already?! What kind of business would take such unfair advantage of someone down on their luck?!
I recently pulled a “Lucky Cow” book off my creaking bookcase of books of comics and was delighted to be reminded what an excellent strip it was. But five years seems to be a magic number to cartoonists. If they don’t make it BIG-BIG-BIG by then, they tend to burn out and move on to greener or at least other-colored pastures. It seems Pett has gone on to success as an author, and I’m always in favor of success, but I would have been willing to read “Lucky Cow” for many more years.
