When I was five years old, I sneaked out of the house to go see the military parade that my military Dad had gotten up early to attend. When my Mom noticed I was missing, she called the police and the air base. My father caught up with me on a bridge, where I was walking in pajamas with a bandage dangling from my knee. He told me to get into the car and took me to the “parade”. It was just a bunch of guys dressed alike standing and walking in formation. I suppose I had thought it would be like Macy’s Parade. It was “not as fun as it sounded”.
