Rat: Hey, Goat. I'm here.
Goat: You're late.
Rat: I said I'd be here at two-ish.
Goat: It's six o'clock.
Rat: 'ish' buys you a lot of time.
Goat: Not four hours!
Rat: An 'ish' is very flexible.
Being an “ish”-ish sort of person myself, I tend to be misunderstood by those who think three o’clock, say, means three o’clock.
What I don’t understand is how everybody but me apparently knows precisely how long it takes to do everything a person needs to do, in order to arrive someplace, however far away, wearing the proper amount of the right attire, bringing the appropriate food, tools, gift, or whatever the occasion requires…. at the exact moment requested.
It’s not only something of which I’m incapable…..
it’s black magic, I tell you, and I’m suspicious of it.
