In the ‘90s I went to a technical conference held at the LV convention center. My employer booked me a room at Circus Circus because it was cheap and an easy walk to the convention center. I was once the night manager in a pizza parlor located in the same block as 3 SRO hotels so I had an idea what was waiting for me. It was even sleazier than I had imagined. The highlight of the trip was walking through a hotel on the way to the keynote address. My supervisor and I got stopped by a barker for a drag revue at the hotel. My boss, wonderful woman that she was, said "No thanks. We’re from San Francisco."
