I got along with a pretty basic 10 speed bicycle for a long time, instead of forking out the big dough for a bike that was 7 or 10 pounds lighter. I figured that as long as I was at least that many pounds overweight, it didn’t make as much sense to buy a lighter bike as it would to lose the weight. Which I never did, despite pedaling a heavier bike.
