Rose is Rose by Don Wimmer and Pat Brady for March 19, 1998
Transcript:
Jimbo looks down at the sandwich with the squished bread while Rose and Pasquale are smiling. Rose explains, "Pasquale liked his sandwich so much, he asked me to write down the bread recipe!" Recipe: "'Squashed Bread' Accidentally place one loaf of bread at bottom of grocery bag.. Squeeze side of loaf between ketchup bottles and canned vegetables.. Crush loaf from above with large carton of milk.. Drop bag hard in grocery parking lot.. Serve sandwiched with a smile."
Many years ago, my older brother showed me how to make ’squashed bread ’ sandwiches using a rolling pin. Like Rose with “anti-aging recipe #321” (25 Oct 1997), we added butter and brown sugar. Though we also folded them over without cutting (because cutting spoils the flavor), we also left the crusts on. We loved them, especially when accompanied by chocolate milk made at home with chocolate syrup.
