Stone Soup by Jan Eliot Wally: What are you having for breakfast? Joan: Cottage cheese and toast. Wally: Oh. Joan: Sound good? I could make you some... Wally: Um... Luci: !! Wally: OK, but I think I'll have mine with bacon. And maybe...a donut! Joan: That sort of defeats the purpose. Wally: Of what?
JoanHelen – correct, Americans call mince ‘hamburger’. They also have something called ‘mincemeat’ which I still haven’t gotten quite straight after thirty years in the US. They use it in pies and it contains tomatos, amongst other things. Damned if I know what it is…
Differentiation between pork or beef sausage is very little done over here, either.
Bacon is dreadful stuff in the US.
On the other hand, a nice moose stew (such as I had the night before last) is wonderful.
