So… The city shuts down when the gong goes off and you’ve got, like five minutes, to run for cover before the (two?) lions are let out? Everyone knows that. So, rather than just holing up for hours you make a run for it ‘cause there aren’t any guards out? Sorta makes sense. Of course it would be fun to just lay low and see how long the lion alert lasts.
Does a lion suffering from perpetual malnutrition fight better than a well-fed lion? Are escaped prisoners such a huge problem they have to keep a pride of lions on retainer to hunt them? Is the writer, really, really desperate to drag this out?
