That was my job for 27 glorious years, fixing PC Problems. I absolutely loved that job, but I do have some pretty weird stories… One DVD Drive story is from my own boss’s PC. He called me in and told me he had put a disc in the drive and it had emitted a terrible noise and the drive door would no longer open. Well, the disc had actually exploded inside as it spun up. I don’t think he did anything wrong, however. But here’s the weird part; After I managed to pick out all the pieces of the shattered DVD (some sharp!), I tried another, (expendable) disc, and it worked perfectly! I never did know what caused the initial cataclysm…
