Wisner adds to muddle what America’s position is but makes it quite clear to the region that realpolitik guides the US, not the aspirations of the Egyptians. That will probably translate to less support for the US. It’s funny, - well, not really - here folks are panicking about an organisation that represents a minority of the whole population, talking up their support by Egyptians, but reviled by extreme fundamentalists for renouncing violence as a means to achieve their goals and yet the best recruiting tool for that organisation to garner more support is precisely this muddled thinking.
They know the US is not sincerely thinking about them.
