Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for October 23, 2008
Transcript:
"Great first half, boys! We're really clamping down defensively! I can see the Jefferson players getting frustrated!" grunt! "...And if they're frustrated, that's good for us! Let them get flustered! We'll stay calm, cool and..." "ARRRGH!" "I CAN'T GET THE TOP OFF THIS STUPID SPORTS DRINK!!" "As I was saying..." WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!
The irony kills me. I also love how Nate is ignoring couch by worrying about his drink instead of what coach has to say. “But Link, isn’t that the general idea of the comic?” That is true random commenter, let me set the sense first. Couch calls a timeout, or break, or whatever they do in soccer and coach calls the kids over for a talk. Nate ignores the couch and grabs a drink instead. He then walks over to where the couch and the team are at, fiddling with the lid. Notice how no one else has drinks. (side note to build up the last point) when I played team sports as a kid and coach called a timeout, we listened to couch and then got drinks. Because no one else has drinks that makes me think that coach follows the same rules here. So when Nate ignores coach he is literally the only one doing it causing an interruption of what coach is trying to do to motivate his players. mic drops (sorry I can’t remember what his name is so I am going to call him coach for now. LOL)
