This is a real, actual quote said at dinner during the December when the Girl was two and a half, lol!! I hesitated to put it in, because I think certainly some newspaper readers who don’t see comments here will think, “wait, is the Girl talking now?” In real life, the Girl spoke very early (and the Boy spoke later, he was almost three. At one point, 18 month old her was translating for him—now both are little sweet chatterboxes) It’s not something I want to make a habit of in the comic, as it’s easier to keep her a general two year old than her specifically… But I had to for this one, lol, it was just too good. We still say it every year and I want to embroider it someday. In the end I hoped that perhaps some readers will think the cats can understand her better than the people, haha, or just have known chatty toddlers. Sometimes a lot of overthinking goes into writing, can you tell? Lol!
