Cathy: This swimsuit fits! Saleswoman: Uh, oh. Cathy: It fits, but it's not my size! Saleswoman: But it fits! Cathy: I wear a size 10! This is a size 14! Saleswoman: Swimsuits always run one or two sizes small. Cathy: I refuse to bring a size 14 into my home! Saleswoman: Cut off the tag! Who will know? Cathy: I will!! I've worked all year to eliminate size 14's from my home....and I'm not about to contaminate my size 10 closet with one now!! Hah! Saleswoman: (I miss the good old days when a 'satisfied customer' was one who'd bought something.)
Awwww . . . what happened to the cute one she tried on yester-day that fit her so perfectly? Was it a “size 14” too? I think she should have just stopped there with that one and declared swimsuit shopping over again for another summer. Why make things anymore difficult for herself than they have to be???
Hi, rgcviper!
lightenup: Agreed, Sis! If something fits and feels comfortable, what’s it matter what the tag “size” is? And, like you, when the pants start to feel a little too snug, I know it’s time to cut back on the portion sizes until they fit me more comfortably again.
O-Kay: You’re not the only one missing that particular “chip” because I don’t have one of those either. Why do people get so hung up on numbers like that anyhow? I’ve never been able to understand it myself.
drbethsk8s: Exactly! The clothing world is made up of MANY, MANY clothing makers who all have different ideas when it comes to “sizes” and the sooner everyone figures that out, the better off they’re going to be. A majority of the time I wear either a small or, if the garment has a number, then it’s a size 6. But I’ve also got mediums and larges along with sizes 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and even one “13” in my closet too . . . none of which look, fit or feel any bigger than the smalls or size 6’s do! There’s simply no reason in the world that I can think of to get so bent out of shape when it comes to clothing numbers that mean absolutely nothing at all (unless you’re just looking for something to be upset about, that is!).
Hello and Happy Sunday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyone’s been having a really nice weekend! :-)
