Republicans are already whining about Biden beginning the process of NEGOTIATING DRUGE PRICES for Medicare purchases from Big Pharma.
Several of them have called it “communism” or “socialism,” proving they have no idea what those terms mean or, if they do, are intentionally lying about them.
This is literally using MARKET LEVERAGE to bargain for the best deal! It is the same thing every other country does. It is the same thing other large buyers do. It is the same thing the Veterans Administration does. It is the same thing that MEDICARE did before George Bush and a Republican House and Senate prohibited Medicare from leveraging its market position — its buying power — to negotiate drug prices. The Inflation Reduction Act — reducing inflation; reducing prices, like, for life-saving MEDICINES — reversed that 2003 anti-consumer, pro corporate welfare Bush-era law.
It is not forcing Big Pharma to set a specific price. It is NEGOTIATION. And if a drug company can’t come to a deal, then they will not be allowed to sell through Medicare, and they will lose the huge volume of sales that go through Medicare.
Republicans do not care about consumers.
They are not fighting for consumers.
Republicans only care about BIG CORPORATIONS. Republicans only represent the interests of BIG CORPORATIONS and want YOU to pay HIGHER DRUG PRICES so their big donors can reap bazillions in profits off the backs of working people and profit off of the illness and suffering of sick people.
