I didn’t read the other posts this morning, but where does one have to “buy” land in order to drill? Answer: Nowhere. They lease it, and that is tightly controlled by the State (not the gubmint). Then, the landowner gets money from the leasing (usually so much an acre), they get generally 20% of the mineral proceeds, and an override. NOT by the way depicted in the story. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t know these facts.
