Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for September 18, 2011
Transcript:
Teddy says, "Good win, boys! Good win!" Nate says, "Except for that goal I let in." Nate says, "It faked me out because it picked up speed as it came at me." Francis says, "That's impossible." Francis says, "A ball cannot accelerate all by itself! According to the Law's of Physics, it starts to decelerate as soon as it's kicked!" Francis says, "That shot didn't speed up! It just slowed down less rapidly that you thought it would!" Nate says, "So if I throw this ball..." Francis says, "...It will start decelerating immediately." DOOF! Nate says, "Wow, you're right, Francis! It came to a complete stop!" Nate says, "I'm accelerating! I'm accelerating!!"
But the laws of physics don’t take gusts of wind into account. So Francis is right, as he usually is.
