I saw an old clip where, after Groucho says “Say the secret word, and a duck will come down and give you $200”, the celebrity contestant (Richard Armour, I think) said “The secret word” and asked for his $200 dollars. It took ol’ Julius a surprisingly long time to get the joke, and when he DID get it he didn’t seem too pleased to have been played. But then, Groucho never liked it when he wasn’t clearly the funniest guy in the room, let alone playing straight man to somebody else. He once threw a fit when, at a dinner party, one of the other guests was asked who he thought was the funniest man in show business and the answer came back “Charlie Chaplin.”
