Another Sunday retread, I see. Still, it’s a good point. You get what you pay for, and minimum wage is business’ way of saying “If I could pay you less by law, I would.”
Years ago there used to be a pizza place in Fountain Valley that sold a pizza called The Garbage Can that was loaded with every topping the place had. I never ordered one but I did see one that someone else bought and that thing was HUGE!
I understand not being paid enough to care—I’ve certainly worked jobs where that was the case—but giving away that much inventory (infinite inventory?) is likely to lose that kid his job. However little he’s paid, he’s clearly considered it enough to bother showing up, so I’m guessing he’ll miss it.
There have been cases where somebody didn’t carefully consider what they were offering, or there was simply a misprint. I think now they have some kind of legal coverage or put some kind of disclaimer in the small print, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t an exception now and then. The ads in my games for games that apparently let you win piles of money all have a little notice at the bottom saying something like “For illustration purposes only. Withdrawals depend on the rules published in the game.” I tried a couple things anyway. One app did let me withdraw some money to Paypal, but most of it was more like rebates on purchases, and all the big amounts had level goals and/or time limits that were unreal. I’m playing one now because it’s relaxing (including sleeping through the long ads), but it looks like my total is approaching the $300 payout requirement asymptotically, as the rewards started out large but as I am getting close they are now down to fragments of a cent.
I remember working at a pizza place in the mid-90s and there was a special where you could get five toppings. One guy ordered all pepperoni for the five toppings. When it came out of the oven, there was literally a puddle of grease on top, and below, the pizza. I think I shortened my lifespan just looking at it.

There is no way that thing is cooked all the way through—all those topping would act like protection against the heat, leaving the center undercooked.
