According to surveys, boys are more adept at math than girls. Guess the scientists never read this strip, LOL.

Seems like Ruby is going to keep Red’s imagination in check. This should be interesting.

Six feet, maybe. Red, perhaps you should put the rocket on a shelf and admire it!

In my youth I would have used a C6-7, so probably a max altitude of around 1600 feet, depending on how heavy the rocket was. 2.6 oz should be the top for that motor. 15.30 Newtons and a total impulse of 10.00 Newton-seconds.

1 million divided by 5,280 feet is 190 miles, approximately.

I noticed that Ruby referred to the rocket as “she.” Good for her—head of her time for the era of this strip.

But did no one notice…. Ruby’s (Mr. Basset’s) 1st calculation was off… by a factor of 1,000! 1,000,000 feet is approximately 189.4 miles – NOT almost 190,000! The other calculations are reasonable estimates, though. People do still fact check what they read, don’t they?

A million feet is 189.394 miles. So, nearly 190 miles, not “nearly 190,000 miles”. (However, looking closely at the comic text she seems to be saying, “nearly 190.000 miles”.)
