Launch Date Announced 🚀 The brand-new GoComics will be unveiled April 1! (No fooling). See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I’ve only recently learned of Star Lights or as I heard on an episode of “After Midnight” Fairy Lights. My teenage years were in the 1960’s and early ’70’s, only go back as far as “Black Light” blubs and posters.
Sean Bell was the first person I ever knew to do this year-round… back in the mid-80s. I will eventually get some LED light strings somewhere along the way. My glow in the dark stars and luminous paint experiments are still up on the ceiling.
Once again BCN makes me smile despite a random depressive episode. I love this comic so much, and all you fellow Orbsters. Thanks for being so awesome.
Rather than a headboard, I put up wire shelving on either side and across the top of the bed, then wound LED star lights down the sides on timers. One goes on early, and the other kicks on at about 2:30 AM. Great nightlights and so zen to look at.
I wish I have a tree fort. But instead I have a pillow fort. I used to declare pillow wars with my friends. It was a war since I started to use nerf guns and threw pillows at my buds
My ceiling currently has glow in the dark stars but I want to redo it. It needs to be painted so I’ll have to take all the stars down anyway and I’m going to paint the walls purple. I want twinkle star lights on the ceiling and the top of the walls. All I have to do is get the energy.
Very much in the same generous spirit as today’s “Wallace the Brave” strip. I think those of us who love “BCN” would find similar affection for Wallace and company.
I used glow in the dark paint on the ceiling, in the last place I lived. I tried to put the spots into the shapes of star constellations, as accurately as I could, even making sure that they were directionally facing the right way!
The spinthariscope is a device that uses a fluorescent zinc sulfide screen to view individual flashes of radioactive decay from a sample of radium. What’s really crazy is that they were sold as children’s toys in the mid 1900s.
Our tree forts were never electrified. On the other hand, we had a catapult made out of an old bike innertube. We made mud-ball projectiles with a firecracker in them, waiting for them to dry. Then, we lit the fuse and launched them. Somewhere over the target, they would explode, raining dirt-shrapnel over our enemies.
This one really resonated with me. My husband and I are in the process of moving and using the occasion to get a new bed, which has a canopy. We’re planning to put fairy lights up there. Tree fort for the win!
Foxy Investigative Reports: Sean Bell came in this morning and said “I have cat news. Foxy escaped during the night.” She’s officially allowed in my room and bathroom (I have my own bathroom!!), the laundry area and the kitchen, so he meant she had come past that. He said “Every cupboard door in the house was open, including in my bathroom.”
I laughed my head off. Well, she did used to stay in his bathroom cupboard when she and I first moved in. I know he doesn’t usually want her to go in his part of the house (especially during the spring blowout) but I was so happy that she feels like she can explore. And be less afraid of him. She came right up to him last night and sniffed his hand. Purrrrr.
Foxy is getting comfortable with her new surroundings! I had a void that loved to open every cabinet door in the house. One espcially was his favorite to hide in, but the tail hanging out the door was a dead give away as to where he was.
1 cup chopped California walnuts (or pecans if that’s what you have)
Instructions
Thoroughly cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. Add flour and mix well. Sir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Press mixture into an un-greased 15 1/2 × 10 × 1 inch jelly roll pan.
Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 25 minutes or until browned. While warm, cut into squares or bars.[dw] Cool before removing from the pan. Makes about 5 dozen crunchy cookies.
-dw: personally, I think they cut better when cooled. Besides, my pans are non-stick.
I had a toy planetarium when I was a kid. A plastic globe with holes punched into it in the positions of the brightest stars and a light bulb inside. You could rotate it and change the angle. It made a dark room more interesting when I was 7.
I just loved this! The artistry is so perfect, and the sweetness of that last panel is off the charts! The joy of a light bath does not have to be restricted to a Christmas tree! Yay!!!
Due to severe weather yesterday I just got to read Today’s strip at 1137 pm. This is a wonderful family portrait. The expressions are so peaceful and loving. Thank you , Georgia.
none of my comics have updated and it’s 12:32 a.m. in TX. BCN is available on arcamax. just imagine what it’s going to be like when GC makes their updates in a few weeks.
Doesn’t anybody at GoComics check the comics before 9 a.m.? You would think someone there would be a comics fan and report this issue but it happens again, and again, and…
This is not a good way to entice readers to spend $40 to join GC. I sure won’t.
I’m glad it’s not just me – just Garfield is showing up of the comics. Gocomics couldn’t get their tech team to look at this? Or did a particular leprechaun wield his tricks on Saint Paddy’s day? Ohh leprechaun – wait til your mum gets after you……
Looks like GC is under another denial of delivery attack. It’s like they have an arch nemesis or something. Once a year like clockwork. Or, one of the intern monkeys they hired to build the new site accidentally loaded some bad code into the wrong server
Just saw on the GC fb post of a recent Dog Eat Doug, they are putting in the comments they are working on trying to get the situation fixed. That’s an improvement over the last times!
As the strip for March 17 seems to be on a delay, I wanted to wish a Happy St. Gertrude’s Day to all cats and their people. (And, well, yeah, the guy with the shamrocks, too.)
I hate gocomics. I wish Ben was available on another site. I am not on facebook, x, or any other similar sites, but I would absolutely join something that provides bcn.

Are we sure the stars aren’t from all the delectable goodies from the past week? Little slices of heaven. Shared with everyone you love.

Elvis doesn’t seem too sure about these new things.
(Although, he seem happy enough in the last panel, they must have passed inspection.)

Love that last panel! It’s so beautifully painted. ❤️ Star lights (or as we called them, twinkle lights) cast an aura of enchantment over everything!

I love it! This is why I put glow-in-the-dark stars and planets on my ceiling. Yes, as an adult. Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.
I need to find stars and such and have hubby put them up.

If it makes you happy, do it.
If there is one thing that I have learned in my life is that life is short, do what makes you happy.
I would hate to be hit by a truck and still have things left on my bucket list.
Be happy.
And stop meddling!

Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Thank you, Chaplain Starr, for that lovely service.
Chaplain Starr: I was glad to celebrate the feast of St. Trudy with all of you.
Puckmosis: Remember to wear green tomorrow on her actual day.
Iggy: What does St. Trudy represent?
Puck: She is the patron saint of Cats. We honor her on March 17th with a feast with delicacies From Where We Know Not.
Alice-Anum: We always like to join in your feast and provide delicacies from Where We’ll Never Tell.
Agnes-Anum: And we would like to invite you to the Feast of St. So-And-So, the patron saint of Procurers.
Elvis-Anum: And will you tell us when it is?
Ta-Natash: That’s one thing we’ll tell you. It’s on August 27th, which is also Just Because Day. (This is true)
Ora Z: In the meantime, let’s make mayhem!
Lupinium: That would be St. Mary MacKillop, the unofficial patron saint of troublemakers.

OT? My dessert recipe I just posted in yesterday’s comments, repeating here just because.
CRISP TOFFEE BARS
Ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine (BUTTER!)
1 cup brown sugar (I prefer dark brown, but light brown works fine)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups sifted enriched flour (all purpose)
1 six-ounce package (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
