Oh great, we’re back to this. Can we just have Brad come down with adult Mumps and end up sterile, thereby relieving us of any drama about Toni’s forced child-bearing? Can we just forgot that Brad and Toni exist because they no long are part of Luann’s world. This is Luann’s story. It should be about Luann!
I’m sorry for Brad, but even planning everything perfectly is no guarantee of success. I’m starting to worry that Toni won’t get pregnant this year. But I’m usually wrong in predict how the story will continue. So…
Mmm-hmm. What was I saying late last week about a certain paramour delivering a certain married couple’s baby? I’m oddly smug after reading today’s strip.
Work schedules- They’re firefighters. They work 2-3 24 hour shifts per week. Easy to alternate. Insurance- See answer 1. Great benefits, and since they are married, only one needs to take them, and the other likely gets a stipend for not taking it.
A friendly joke between Brad and TJ, about a “pregnant” subject (sorry, couldn’t resist) presaging a major possible event, Brad and Toni, being preggers! Tease so far, along with the absurdity, that anyone who has raised children knows, all the baby planning in the world goes out the window when that baby comes in the world. Good parents make up for that, even though kids, and life reality, keeps parents on their tippy toes. Or should.
I always wondered if I was unplanned. My older brother came 7 1/2 years earlier. Ever if I was unplanned I always felt loved and adored by my parents and my brother was always kind to me growing up as well.
This cast of characters is less interesting to me than some of the others. Not sure, but I think it might be Brad’s baby moon face LOL! The three of them haggling over how to prepare for a baby is pretty dry, even with the inevitable crib assembly disaster. Bring back the dorm drama!
Brad and Toni are overthinking it. Just let things happen naturally. Toni will eventually get pregnant and then there will be a whole new perspective on them as expectant parents. I’d much preferred they waited a while—-maybe let them build on their careers or buy a starter dream home. They always appear to be financially strapped in spite of both making good salaries. Having a baby will make things even tighter.
There was great potential to write so many things for Brad and Toni—-furthering their careers, buying a project car to fix up together, buying an renovating a dream home, helping TJ have more of a life outside of their kitchen and of course, helping out with Shannon. Instead, we get a baby arc. A baby arc down the road might be good, but it’s disappointing in a world where so much could be written about this power couple this is what we get. But it will be interesting to see what comes next.
Maybe this is the trend for last year and 2025, these overly naive and innocent characters (Nothing wrong with that) will finally start moving forward in their lives. Cartoonists don’t live forever ….. ;-)
A: Only if he voted for Donald Trump. At least according to the site pseudo intellectuals. Personally… The Count does not believe him to be neither homophobic nor racist (like The Count and most other Patriotic Americans) even though he voted for Donald Trump because even Brad isn’t dumb enough to have voted otherwise. Dilly! Dilly! God Bless America!
Honestly….. I am at the point where I simply CRINGE involuntairly when the arc is featuring Brad and Toni now.
The ONLY arc(s) they ever seem to have anymore are “baby”. Either Brad and Toni are a) talking about a potential baby, b) talking about not wanting a potential baby, c) having implied sex with an intent or lack of intent to potentially produce a baby, d) watching Shannon in order to be INFLUENCED positively or negatively in a) or b) or c) above.
They (Brad and Toni) USED to be far more interesting characters with MANY DIFFERENT story arcs. Now, the two of them have become basically uni-directional, having only one….. repetitive to me….. arc….. over and over again.
Do not get me wrong…. having a kid or kids is GREAT. I have several. But, I really would prefer there to be a bit more of a balance in what Brad and Toni are represented to “do” in these comics. It used to be interesting/exciting when the arc would switch to Brad or Toni or both of them…. because there were a WHOLE BUNCH of different possibilities….. including SOMETIMES (not ALL the time) talking about a baby.
TJ is definitely the bright spot for today’s panels.
Brad, don’t do it. Kids suck. They really suck. They suck bad. It’s one of those things… You don’t know what you don’t know. If you want to lose all your free time and be broke AF all the time, cleaning up other people‘s messes, etc., then have kids. If you want to enjoy your life, then don’t have kids.. Seriously. Kids are not worth it… ungrateful, entitled, they’re just the pits.
Brad is wasting time. There’s no evidence that Toni is even pregnant; he’s making plans and agonizing over something that may never come to pass. He definitely doesn’t know how to keep things simple.
Anyone else reminded of George Carlin and his sketch about birth control on the AM-FM album? Something like this: "Eventually there will be an unreliable birth control pill called ‘Baby Maybe’ "

TJ is right. Most children aren’t planned for and it usually works out fine. TJ is a good person.
.
So just how soon can we expect this “maybe baby” to become a reality?

Never try to make a point with a sentence that ends in “and I turned out all right” or “look how I turned out”.

Is Toni on board, Brad? Or are you doing this on your own?

You have 9 months during the pregnancy to plan.

With this much aggravation, Brad and Toni are better off not having kids. After all, they have their experiences with Shannon to think about!
RSH 7 days ago
Brad doesn’t like uncertainty, and certainly not complexity. He just wants to keep everything simple.

We do know how TJ turned out when he was a teenager. And that’s why Brad went back to his computer.

Uh Oh. A perceived weak spot in TJ’s self-presumed armor? We all come up short to varying degrees. And maybe that just occurred to him….

This is silly. You don’t need a perfect situation to raise children.

Brad?
Like Luann’s latest “conquest” Phil, you’re over-thinking this baby thing.
Re-Lax, And as Louis Cole sang, ”Let it happen.”

Hurry Brad, you must plan out all of the child’s activities for the first 14 years of life at which age you’ll have the kid irretrievably screwed up.

There was a Comedian who had a bit where he described how,”We are all accidents. No 2 people ever said they were about to make Tom, or Sue or anyone.”
It was a great bit.
We had our children and while trying, it took time “trying” and we lost a child during pregnancy.
There is a lot of God and/or magic involved in having and raising children.
