OK, we know he’s ever had a girlfriend…hope we get some other scraps about his situation and goals by Saturday.

Luann is just venting some emotions due to the old breakup. But hearing him do the same is encouraging her. It does seem that “Trouble likes company”.

Now is a gift to ourselves. That’s why we it “The Present”.

I’m not sure where exactly to attribute that quote, but I first heard it on Kung Fu Panda. :)

Could this relationship actually LAST?? If it does, will Tiff ever be mad!!

I hope next week, this strip will focus on someone else—say, Gunther and Bets, and their endless conflict with his overbearing mother and indifferent stepfather!

Refresh my memory…was the break up with Quill ugly?

But it’s still early. And who knows? We may find the reason why Phil got “dumped.”

And as for Lu, it’s not like she hadn’t been trying for a new relationship.

Refresh my memory, because I don’t recall her relationship with the Bland Down Under ending all that acrimoniously.

Luann is cautious after a nasty break-up…? A break-up that SHE caused. She threw a temper tantrum about his leaving to go on the tour. She expected him to give it up to be with her. SHE was the immature one. She was simply hurt that Quill did not CHOOSE her. She believed she was not important enough for him to stay. That is the mentality of a teenager who had no vision of the future beyond her current wants. Quill had a vision and plans. Quill was mature beyond Luann. They were not on the same life stage. Quill chose rightly to pursue his future. Luann just wouldn’t accept it. SO, she still thinks she was a victim. Perhaps Phil will help show that she was never a victim but was just a high school girl with romantic ideals while her boyfriend was not ready for more serious relationship and chose to begin his career and college. There was no victim – just two people in different places in life. Luann needs to accept that Quill was never a bad guy and move on. Accept the responsibility of her own actions. Her relationship with Phil won’t work out if she is still the same Quill’s Luann.

A new present? Is Luann asking for gifts already?

Luann’s break up with Quill was something that SHE did… not him.

Please, enough with the pun-ishment. “Present” time or reward?

Nice to see Luann explain to Phil why she’s reluctant to think of their relationship as something serious. She finally admits that having to break up with Quill has left her with wounds that still hurt. Interesting to know that Phil is also recovering from relationship that ended badly. Let’s hope they will find happiness together.

Luann’s last relationship ended with Pedo the Perverted Predator crept out of the room while she was still asleep after their one night stand and ghosted her until he needed something and Phil’s neighbor was a woman.

Too complicated.

So LuAnn, in her own way is subtlety saying she’s willing to continue the relationship to see where it goes.

Wow, these two really have hit it off.

Things like this often remind me of the episode of Newhart (the one in New England) with “Let it go!”

While we are products of our past, we never forget what we learned, the secret is to acknowledge it and not dwell on it. There is no way to change anything that has happened to anything better, but always remember relationships are contributory which means others have control of part of them; no matter what words we use to describe them they are partnerships and there is no reference to ownership of others involved.

Okay, I think everyone involved in a relationship has been dumped and worn the “Brown Crown.” In the case of Luann and Phil, it appears his breakup is more recent than Luann’s, judging by facial expressions and implied tone of his responses and he isn’t exactly 100% over it.

If you can learn from the past and not dwell on the past …

… the present can be a real gift.

Most everybody gets dumped one time or another. Some of those times are worse than others.

I know I don’t post here often, and I know these strips are drawn several months in advance, but I predict this relationship is going somewhere, and I’m rooting for it. Evidence: 1) Mrs. Horner likes him; 2) they’re going slow; 3)…well, there is no 3 yet but Nancy met him, so let’s see if she likes him.

I know it’s a comic but here’s some reality. I was once coming down from a relationship where I was pretty much burned. I met a young lady who had just left an abusive marriage. We just celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary in February. So real or imaginary, it can happen.

Who is Luann kidding?? She was TOTALLY responsible for the break up with Quill. She made big plans without telling him, and then when he actually had a conflicting career opportunity she pitched a fit, broke up and threw his necklace at him. Love it when G&K treat their readers like they all have amnesia.
