Well, this was a midweek misdirection play I did not see coming.

What a letdown after all the building up….pooofffff. Nothing changed. Luanniverse is intact.

Not this again! Despite the weight gain, Tiffany is still pretty, with a curvy figure. Ox is stubble-bald, paunchy and boring. He likes Tiffany because she’s pretty, and it probably doesn’t hurt that she’s rich and was a cheerleader when they were in high school. People would be impressed if Ox could date Tiffany, but they’d be shocked if she settled for him.

Wow. Greg is drawing Tiffany really big! She’s as wide as Ox.

I don’t think Tiffany is going to catch onto Ox’s comment. I expected Kip to confront Stef instead of giving in and letting her back into his life.

Kip Lee is not wealthy like Oxford. Kip is a potential NFL player?

Tiffany judges potential boyfriends based on their looks. She has taken a pass on Leslie Knox, TJ, Gunther and Ox.

We seem to have missed some important interaction that I would have liked to see. But Stef’s intrusion and usurpation of a private conversation seems to have been rewarded. Kip’s brief opportunity to pursue his independence and open his eyes to new opportunities has been thwarted. He has, apparently, returned to his imprisonment under Stef’s emotional tyranny. But who knows? In another week, he might again see the same behavior that induced him to initiate the break last October 30-31. Maybe he needs repeated instances to get it through his thick skull that this is a toxic relationship that has dulled his senses. Meanwhile, G&K are teasing the readers with Ox’s longstanding crush on Tiff. But, really, there’s no relational impetus to kick him out of the “friend zone” into a romantic running field.

She’ll be better—in the sack maybe, but not as a human!

Another disappointment. Clearly, G&K can’t write an arc with a logical outcome. There is a contrived conflict with no real character development or resolution. Let’s get rid of Stef and Kip.

Just NO to all of this. These arcs are exhausting lol. How many times do we have to see Kip get a moment of sanity then poof. Not to mention the whole Tiff, Ox thing. Ox is a great guy but Ox’s crush on Tiff isn’t comparable to Tiff and Kip. All these arcs go nowhere lately. We need some excitement with follow through!

I predicted, at my peril, but I was 99% sure, that Kip and Steph were destined to get back together, they are drawn almost co-dependent. But the Ox(Ford) angle is a pleasant misdirection. I think it would be a great epiphany for Tiffany, and joy to Ox, good for both, but she has to grow, and he needs to make his feelings clear. By the way, too many here focus their opinions about a potential relstionship between a rich Tiff, a bit too chubby for them, who definitely, nevertheless, would not want a “fat” boring slub like Ox. Well, then they aren’t carefully understanding the true back story of Ox. “His” dad is also an successful attorney, who apparently is actually living with and fathering his family in Luannverse and not 8k miles away, in Japan; he is just shy, although panel 3 may presage a change. I hope so. We may see next week.

Reading through the comments, its obvious that the readers are polarized into two camps — those who think it would be just great if Tiff and Ox ended up together, and those of us who would be horrified which includes me. But I think that today’s development is another tease and misdirection. For years, Greg has been getting his mileage from the strip by having most characters forever trying but never making it. Brad and Toni are the only exceptions. I keep reading because I like some of the characters and the humor, but freely admit that I’ve been tired of all the cynicism for several years.

Calling it now: this is the end of this arc. We won’t see these two on Monday, but rather we’ll see a different character. The status quo remains firmly in place.

Are there ANY happy single couples besides Toni and Brad in this strip? We haven’t had even a happy pause, much less a happy ending since Bets and Gun first got together. GETTING TIRED HERE!

Bingo Ox! But it will fly right over Tiff’s head.

Tiffany has every right to be upset, but it’s a good thing this happened before she and Kip had gotten any further. She should just accept that Kip is a dumb guy who will never be free of Stef. I feel bad for Ox, but Tiffany has never shown signs of thinking of him as more than a friend.

Stefani must be really good in …. somewhere.

It’s up to the artists to make Ox more handsome. It wouldn’t take much for Tiff to see him in a new light. Take a good look at Ox, Tiff.

The way this arc ended is NOT what the readers want, and may put them off enough to read another comic instead.

Well played, Evans. We’ve been needing a revisiting of Ox-wants-Tiff. Look at the calendar. We’ve got ourselves a Valentine’s Day arc coming to your screen (or printed comics page) at full speed.

Relax Tiff. Once Kip gets ‘it’ out of his system, he’ll see she hasn’t changed.

I guess we can’t hope for the Kip/Tiff pairing. Then we lose the drama. Nor the Ox/Tiff pairing. Nor the Bernice/Nil, nor the Luann/…um, the muscelhead guy that we met w Nil.I don’t think Tiff has changed as much as we think. Yes, she’s not as pre-occupied, not as snarky…no, she’s is, not AS petty, or mean, but she is still focused on beauty, and what she wants. But, ti’s the age. I was like that too then, still am to some degree at 53. But I recognize it and try to fight it. Jesus helps me, I recognize my weakness and my need for outside help only He can give.

This has become a predictable soap opera.

I’m glad Tiffany finally got the message, which is surprising because she is so dam dense. She was really out of line plotting and scheming to break up Kip and Stef. That she still thinks she was right is a perfect example of how self-centered she is. Maybe if she started paying attention and lost a few pounds her head wouldn’t be so fat (literally). And Ox – blech! no! Greg needs to do a makeover on that character.

Tiff is frustrated by Kip in the same way that Ox is with Tiff. Both are in the “friend zone” of the person they desire for boyfriend or girlfriend. Tiff doesn’t get it any more than Ox.

He’ll transform just like Brad did. Go back and look at earlier versions of Brad. He even grew more hair! :-0

I do not view Kip’s wishy-washy ways as any sort of surprise, because that seems to me to be his normal mode of operating, and I had been predicting that a few times this week already. However, Ox’s emotional statement today….. is a surprising twist and feels like the last week may potentially become an interesting misdirection…. IF the arc continues into next week with Tiffany and Ox continuing to communicate.

However, WILL THE ARC CONTINUE or will this be Greg and Karen’s common “ambiguous teasing” where things basically get dropped, with limited movement of the character(s)?

I do not really know what to predict. It would be quite interesting to see Ox and Tiffany further interact, indeed. Tiffany might realize some things about herself if she had this conversation with Ox.

What do other folks think?

Ox great comeback. Tiffany, Kip is a man who thinks of his ego being pump up by Stef.

Tiff has never had a boyfriend much less a long term one. She thinks of relationships as musical chairs. If Kip really wanted her he would have made it happen a long time ago. Tiff needs to get over herself as the perfect solution to Kip’s needs.

Gunther was a better match for Tiffany. Piro was a better match. Even Kip was better. Hell, TJ is a better match and I’m 98% sure he’s written as gay. Please, PLEASE, just STOP with the Ox + Tiffany

You tell her, Ox. I personally don’t think Ox and Tiffany should date because he is way too good for her. She will never truly appreciate him. She simply doesn’t have that kind of insight.

God Bless Ox. He’s completely oblivious to anything thats going on around him, yet he strides on, patient, courageous, and typically triumphant! Simple maybe, yet strong in heart and spirit. We all need someone like Ox in our lives. They are the ones that keep us grounded in reality.

Stefani is one of the most unlikeable comic characters I have ever come across.

when i was Tiffany’s age I was just as self-centered as she when it came to seeing what was out there. A lovely young man wanted to date me. I turned him down because he was shorter than I. That he was smart, kind, interesting etc didn’t make a difference to me. I picked someone taller and better looking by teenage standards. Tiff will do the same.

Poor Ox…I don’t think Tiffany will ever see him as boyfriend material, which is a shame.

She is just not into him. There has to be an attraction for this to work.

Why is everyone so invested in a bunch of 19-year-olds finding True Love?? At this age their love lives are a lot more like Kip and Stef – hot makeout sessions, arguing, on-again/off-again dating. They don’t HAVE to find their life partner before they’ve even graduated from college.

If that’s how they’re going to end this, I say no more of Kip and Stef. We need this crap as much as Tiffany does.

We really haven’t seen a lot of Ox’s character aside from him being generally a nice guy. I don’t see them as a couple. I’ve known couples like Kip and Stefani who have been together for so long the reasons for being together no longer apply or Kip is waking up to how she really is towards him and other people. I think the wake up happened when she wasn’t intending on paying Dez back for the loan for Cheer Camp, then how she talks down to Tiff and she bulldozes the other roommates. He already said he didn’t see her as marriage material and I love Tiff, but she needs more growing up too. Maybe an internship with her dad in Japan about starting a business might help.

What if Aaron Hill returns, but he’s gained about 50 lbs & male pattern baldness has made manifest.
